House Rules
We're a crew of riders of every age, background, gender and skill level. These rules apply wherever WeekendGravelCrew meets: on rides and trips, in the app, and in the WhatsApp community. They spell out what “ride safely and treat everyone with respect” means in practice.
Everywhere
- Respect everyone. No harassment, bullying, discrimination or personal attacks, including about race, religion, gender, sexuality, age, body, disability or riding ability.
- Keep it suitable for everyone. No nudity or sexual content, including images shared as “art” or as a joke. No graphic or shocking images. If you wouldn't show it to a new rider at the start of a ride, don't post it.
- Leave politics and religion out. Discussions about politics and religion stay out of WeekendGravelCrew's rides, app and chats.
- Respect privacy. Don't share someone's contact details, messages or photos outside the crew without their OK. If someone asks you to take down a photo of them, do.
- Be honest. No scams, no impersonating others, no misleading listings.
- Nothing illegal. No stolen, counterfeit or prohibited items in the Market or the chats.
- Share only what's yours to share. Post photos and content you have the right to share, and credit the photographer or source.
- No spam. No selling or advertising outside the Market, unless the leaders have agreed it, for example a partner's offer.
- Private messages count too. Contact details on profiles are for crew matters, not sales pitches or unwanted messages. These rules apply in private chats as well.
On rides and trips
- Bring the minimum, every ride: a helmet, lights, enough water, and a repair kit. Make sure your bike is in working order.
- Follow the ride leader's briefing, route and stops. If you're turning back or dropping off the pace, tell the leader, so no one is left alone.
- Ride predictably, call out hazards, and obey traffic rules.
- Don't ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- In an emergency, call 995 first, then tell the ride leader.
- Respect pedestrians, park users, trail closures and private land. Leave no trace.
- Pick rides that match your pace and ability. If you can't make it, withdraw in the app so someone else can take your spot.
In the app and Forum
- Post in the right place: questions, stories and photos in the Forum; buying and selling in the Market.
- Keep it kind and on topic. Disagree with ideas, not people.
- If a Forum post or reply breaks these rules, report it rather than arguing in the replies: tap the ••• button on the post (beside Share) or on the reply, then Report to leaders.
In the WhatsApp community
- The chat reaches every member, at all hours. Keep posts about riding and the crew.
- The same rules apply here. No nudity or sexual images, artistic or otherwise, and no offensive memes, stickers or GIFs.
- Take long side conversations to a private chat.
- Don't share the invite link. The community is for approved members only.
- Admins may remove messages, or remove members who break these rules.
Partners and the public
- Member deals are for you only. Don't resell, and don't share codes with non-members.
- In crew kit or on a group ride, you represent WeekendGravelCrew. Be courteous at cafés, shops and partner events.
If something goes wrong
- Tell a ride leader, privately if you prefer. That works for anything: rides, the app or the WhatsApp community. Anyone in the crew, including riders under 18, can raise a concern about anyone.
- In the Forum, you can also report a post or reply: tap the ••• button on it (beside Share on a post), then Report to leaders. Only leaders see reports.
- Breaking these rules may lead to a strike. Three strikes mean removal, and serious misconduct, such as harassment, sexual content or putting others in danger, may mean removal straight away. You'll always be told when and why.
- Ride leaders may hide, edit or remove anything that breaks these rules, in the app or the chat.
- If you disagree with a decision, speak with a ride leader or an admin. After that, the decision is final. Our leaders are volunteers with limited time, so they act quickly on the evidence available.
We may update these rules from time to time. Changes will be announced in Updates on the Forum.
