Shimano GRX Shifter(Left) to Dropper Post Lever Mod

Zairi Tan · edited

Hello everyone. I would like to share a recent modification I made to my bicycle. I hope this information is helpful to those who are looking to install a dropper post on a gravel bike without using a mountain bike-style lever on the dropbars.

Disclaimer: I am not the originator of this idea or modification. This concept has been discussed on platforms such as YouTube and Reddit for several years.

Shout-out to William Mabus on YouTube and francfrances on Reddit!

Here's a How-to on reddit :

I am aware that Shimano manufactures a dedicated GRX800 series dropper post lever. I am currently using a 1x chainring on my bike, and the left-hand GRX400 shifter serves as a dummy lever, which was a perfect solution that saved me from having to spend extra money on a set of GRX800 brifters.

I don't have many photos of the process, but I'd be happy to answer any questions you have and share a video of it working on my bike! 😊
