About App
How the WeekendGravelCrew app works.
Here's everything riders keep asking, in one place.
The app opens for early sign-ups on Sat 3 Oct and launches officially on Sat 10 Oct 2026. From then on, rides, routes and races live on the app, while WhatsApp stays for chat.
Question we missed, found a bug or have an idea? Tell us in the Feedback tab above.
Lucky draw (launch special)
How does the lucky draw work?
The draw opens on Sat 10 Oct with prizes from our partner brands. Winners are announced on Sat 24 Oct.
To qualify, bring your profile to 100% on its Profile completion meter by 2pm on Fri 23 Oct. You'll find the meter at the top of your own profile. It's seven quick steps:
- Write a short bio
- Add at least 2 social links
- Add a bike to your Garage
- Say hi on the Welcome post
- Comment on a Garage build or Forum post
- Like a Garage build or Forum post (on the Forum, tap Useful)
- Join WGC WhatsApp Chat from the app (already in the group? Tap it anyway)
Each step on the meter takes you straight to where it's done, and your percentage updates as you go. If you joined before we asked where you're based, you'll see one extra step to add that.
Already at 100% before? Take another look. We've swapped the emergency contact step for the three community steps (you'll still be asked for an emergency contact when you join a ride or race).
Getting started
Do I need to download anything?
No. It's a web app. Open weekendgravelcrew.com in your phone browser, then use "Add to Home Screen" to get an app icon.
How do I sign up?
Tap Sign up and continue with Google or your email. There are no passwords; email sign-in sends you a one-tap link.
What will I be asked?
Your name, why you want to join, how into gravel you are, and your riding level. You can add Strava, Instagram or Carousell links so a leader can verify you, name someone you know in WGC, and tick any volunteer roles you'd like to help with.
Why isn't my account active straight away?
Every new sign-up is reviewed by a ride leader or admin before it can join rides or post. You'll get an email when you're approved, with the WhatsApp group link included. While you wait, you can still browse the app.
My application needs an update. What now?
The email will say what's missing, usually a Strava or Instagram link to verify you. Update your details and resubmit from the same screen.
What's a member number?
Your number is assigned the moment you sign up and stays yours for good. It shows on your profile and Member Card, so the earlier you sign up, the lower it is.
I'm already in the WhatsApp group. Do I still need to sign up?
Yes. Upcoming rides and their GPX routes will only be on the app, so you'll need an account to join rides.
Can I look around without an account?
Yes. Anyone can read the Forum and browse past rides, races, the Market, the Garage and the member list. You need an account to join rides, download routes, post or reply.
Rides
Where do I find upcoming rides?
In the Rides tab, once you're signed in and approved. The Joined tab shows rides you've signed up for, and Leading shows rides you've scheduled.
Why can't guests see upcoming rides?
Meeting points, start times and rosters for future rides are kept to members. Past rides stay public, so anyone can see what the crew gets up to.
How do I join or pull out of a ride?
Open the ride and tap Join. If plans change, withdraw from the same page so your spot goes to someone else. Each ride has a capacity, and the app stops sign-ups once it's full.
What if a ride is full?
There's no waitlist yet, because most rides have room for everyone who wants in. Check back in case someone withdraws, or message the ride leader.
Is there a waiver?
Yes. When you join a ride or race, you confirm the WGC participation waiver and photo consent. The full document is linked from that step.
How do I get the GPX route?
The route map and GPX download are on the ride page. Any approved member can see and download an upcoming ride's route, but do join the ride so we know to expect you. After the ride, anyone can view the map, and signed-in members can download it.
What do the labels mean?
Difficulty is easy, moderate or hard. Pace is social, tempo or race. They show how fast and how tough the leader expects the ride to be, so you can pick one that suits you. Each ride also lists distance and elevation.
Can I schedule my own ride?
Yes, any approved member can. Fill in the date, time, meeting point, distance, difficulty, pace, capacity and a description, then upload a GPX file up to 10 MB. You can add a cover photo and, afterwards, a link to the ride's photo album.
Who can edit or cancel a ride?
The person who scheduled it, plus any ride leader or admin.
What time zone are rides in?
Singapore time, even for rides in Malaysia.
Races, Garage, Market, Forum and Members
What's in Races?
A calendar of regional and international gravel races the crew is eyeing, with dates, distance, terrain, registration status and travel notes. Tap "interested" to show you're keen and see who else is going.
Can I add a race?
Yes. Submit it and it stays private to you until a ride leader checks and publishes it.
How do I add my bike to the Garage?
Go to Edit Profile, then Your Bikes. Add the brand, model and a photo. From the Garage you can then add the full build: components, weight, build date, cost and the story behind it.
Can I see other people's builds?
Anyone can browse the Garage, search by bike or owner, and sort by likes, weight or date. Liking a build needs an account.
How does the Market work?
List an item to sell (in SGD), trade or give away, with up to 9 photos (the first is the cover) and its condition. Buyers can ask in the listing's comments or reach you through the links on your profile. WeekendGravelCrew doesn't handle payment or delivery, so deal directly and mark the listing closed when it's gone.
What's Forum?
The community board on the home page, with channels for Updates, Gear, Rides, Races and Routes. Anyone can read it. Members can post, reply, follow threads and mark posts useful.
What can people see on the Members page?
Anyone can see the member list: name, role, Instagram handle, member number and photo. Signed-in members can open full profiles with bio, bikes, rides done and contact links.
How do I find riders near me?
The Members map, for signed-in members, groups riders by postal district. It shows district only, never your address.
Notifications
How will I know if a ride I joined changes?
The app tells you when a ride or race you're in is cancelled, back on, or has a new date, start time, meeting point or route. You'll see it under the bell and in your daily email. If the ride starts within 48 hours, you're also emailed straight away.
What's the bell?
The bell at the top of the app shows a red count of new items. Opening Activity, or the ride itself, clears it. You'll also see replies to your Forum posts and likes on your Garage builds there.
What's the daily email?
"WeekendGravelCrew: Your Daily Roundup" arrives around 7:30am, only on days there's something you haven't already seen in the app.
Can I turn the emails off?
You can switch off the daily roundup under Edit profile, then Emails, or with the link at the bottom of any roundup. Urgent emails about a ride you've joined always send, like account emails.
Will I get told about small edits?
No. Changes to a ride's description, capacity, distance, elevation, cover photo or map link save quietly. Changes to a ride that's already happened don't notify anyone either.
I missed a change. Why?
The app only knows about changes saved in the app, not ones mentioned in WhatsApp. If a leader posted it in chat only, ask them to update the ride.
Member deals
Where do I find member discounts?
On your Member Card in the app. It lists every partner deal, including POC through Integrated Riding, Ascent, Attaquer, Pedla, Ass-Savers, Compound Coffee, 2050 Coffee and Lagoon in a Bowl. Codes are listed there too.
How do I prove I'm a member?
Show your Member Card in the app at the counter. A few partners need a quick check first; the card says which and who to contact.
Privacy, data and security
Your data is encrypted, locked down by role, kept only as long as needed, and the app passed an independent security test before launch. It was built with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) in mind.
WGC's Data Protection Officer is founder Kevin Lim, who holds the Practitioner Certificate for Personal Data Protection (Singapore), co-issued by the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) and the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
How is my data protected?
- Encrypted at rest: everything stored, including the database, backups, photos and route files, is encrypted with AES-256.
- Encrypted in transit: every connection runs over HTTPS
